Hello! My report is on Maintained schools in the UK after 1976 and the National Curriculum. I’ve divided my presentation in 3 parts:
1.General characterization of maintained schools in the UK.
2.Definition of the National Curriculum.
3.Studies in the National Curriculum.
If you have any questions you are welcome to ask them during the presentation.

Now I’ll start with the 1st part of my report.
1. In the United Kingdom (UK), schools are usually classified according to how they receive their funding. State maintained schools (“grant-aided schools” in Northern Ireland) are those, which are financed almost entirely from public funds.
By law, children in UK must attend school between the ages of 4 or 5 and 16. Most children attend state maintained schools. Those children that do not attend state maintained schools attend independent, privately run and privately funded schools.
Of state maintained schools, nearly two-thirds in England and Wales are owned and maintained by Local Education Authority (LEA), the remainder being grant-maintained schools, voluntary aided schools and City Technology Colleges. In Scotland only 4% of pupils are educated outside the state sector.
At both primary and secondary school level in England and Wales, the majority of state maintained schools are co-educational. In Scotland, all state maintained schools are co-educational too.
School year. Throughout the UK, the school year is divided into 3 terms. Each term lasts for approximately 13 weeks. In England and Wales school year begins in the first week of September and finishes the following July; in Northern Ireland finishes in following June. In Scotland begins in mid-August and finishes at the end of the following June.…
