The Problem: Statutory Rape

The statistics prove it, according to the National Center for Health Statistics since the 1970's teen pregnancies have had a dramatic decrease going into the 2000's (http://www.agi-usa.org/pubs/teen_stats.html).
Statutory rape laws are confusing and have a number of flaws. My proposal not only fixes certain technicalities but it also instills a national age of consent which will limit the confusion that surrounds the law. On top of that my new law not only keeps old perverts away from vulnerable teens, but it also gives teens today the respect the deserve and their freedom to choose when it comes to their personal relationships. It is a much needed improvement that has been long overdue.
