Film means something that is created by men. It is kind of theatre in the TV – box. Some cannot live without TV - soap operas, cartoons, etc. Behind all this is a great history of film industry and its development. Actors, producers, Hollywood, etc. is part of it. The film making is a long and time consuming process and, as a result, a film comes out. Countries work on film translation for their people to understand. Usually for film first night performances in cinemas a film is subtitled not dubbed.

It gives a general insight and therefore is advisable for reading it not only by those who study some kind of translation but also by any other students.

The primary material in the investigation consists of texts from” The Subtitling Art” and “A Textbook of Translation” as well as Internet sites. Many sites contain information on the topic but the exact information is to be looked for very carefully.
The author will study the theory of the subtitling, process of subtitling and kinds of subtitling. In practical part the author shows her tries to use subtitling programme and give general information about punctuation use in subtitling.…
