There are arguments against harder sentences and capital punishment. People say that there is not any reason to think that harsh punishment works. Centuries ago, pickpockets were hanged before large crowds. However, other pickpockets still worked in those crowds. One of the arguments against more severe punishment is that it brutalizes society. Some people consider capital punishment to be cruel and unusual. Furthermore, the death penalty is seen as an affront to human dignity. All things considered, I believe that finding the right kinds of rehabilitation in the only real answer for reducing the crime rate. Personally, I am totally against harder sentences in principle. …
