The last important aspect of the novel is Gatsby’s and Daisy’s relationship as they are moving the story forward. The main point about their relationship is that Gatsby and Daisy come from two different backgrounds, what at the first seems like an old, passionate love, is a conflict in society between two different worlds. In the movie, additional scenes are added to visualize their relationships: the dance in uniform, deep conversations in Gatsbys room, romantic scenes with them sitting in the grass, and others. In the book, it was only said that Daisy visits Gatsby often, romantic moments of just two of them are not charactised that much. In both: the book and the movie Gatsby first comes in a scene as a wealthy, mysterious man, however, F. S. Fitzgerald does a great job by slowly revealing Gatsby’s personality and background, therefore, to the reader it is not clear, what is the reason, why Gatsby and Daisy could not be together. The main difference in the movie is the scene, where Daisy cries her heart out when Gatsby impatiently is asking, why Daisy did not wait for him, and she answers “rich girls don’t marry poor boys” (The Great Gatsby, 1974: 69’00) because in simple words it explains what F. S. Fitzerald was leaving for the reader to guess themselves about Daisy’s character. Throughout the movie and book we can see that Daisy is from a different world, and “her voice is full of money”: happiness about brand new shirts, interest in luxurious things, careless spirit. To compare the biggest difference between the novel and the book, when characterizing their relationship, is that in the book their past relationship is told from other person perspectives, but in the movie, they speak about their past in romantic scenes and are not present. …
