Facts prove that record labels, under the protective "wing" of The Recording Industry of America (RIAA) are able to defraud musicians out of their works, their money, and their livelihood. Now, the RIAA is suing the very people who fund their operations. The RIAA is not suing "shady bootleggers"; they are suing Eighty-six year-old grandparents, and impoverished twelve year-olds.
The RIAA insists that it is out on a crusade to purge the Internet of all "illegal" songs, and in turn, help musicians. However, this is not the fact. A long-time, well-known musician, Courtney Love, says that "there were a billion music downloads last year, but music sales are up. Where's the evidence that downloads hurt business? Downloads are creating more demand."
