The International Humanitarian Law is the foundation of global efforts to mitigate the effects of armed conflicts and safeguard vulnerable populations. This essay investigates the significance of IHL by analysing the spheres it encompasses, the treaties that play a role, the underlying principles, and a sceptical view of IHL. In addition, I will investigate the case of war in Ukraine to determine whether this law is respected during actual conflict.
