The record for the longest period without sleep is 11 days. A student named Randy Gardner is the one who set this record in 1964. This is exceptionally concerning because teens need about 9 to 10 hours of sleep each night to function best. However, most teens do not get enough sleep. For instance, one study found that 85% of students didn't get enough sleep on school nights. We call this situation sleep deprivation. It is a condition where people do not get enough sleep.
Therefore, for my speech today, I will tell you why you should care more about your sleep.
So why do we need sleep?
