On one occasion during his personal ministry, Jesus had slipped away from the crowd and gone out to a solitary place to pray. He did that quite often in order to be alone with God. Sometimes he would climb up the side of a mountain and pray. Sometimes he would arise early and go out into the desert and pray. On other occasions, he went into a garden such as Gethsemane and prayed. But on the occasion we will consider, Jesus had turned aside to pray, and his disciples came upon him while he was in prayer. They did not disturb him but waited until he had finished and came unto Jesus saying, "Lord, teach us to pray."
Look at Luke 11:1: "And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples." …
