Germany’s great strength in exports has been somewhat immune to COVID
German exports have bounced back to levels last seen three years ago, with a trade surplus of €110 billion in the first half of 2021.
Germany did put its fiscal prudence on hold to deal with the pandemic, condoning a budget deficit of around 6% in its efforts to support citizens and businesses

Berlin will ban unvaccinated people from restaurants, bars, cinemas and other entertainment venues
Outdoor events with more than 2,000 visitors will also be off-limits to unvaccinated adults
On November 26, along with other EU states, Germany imposed a temporary ban on arrivals from South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia and Eswatini until further notice.

"By the end of this winter everyone in Germany will either be vaccinated, recovered or dead," Jens Spahn told a news conference in Berlin on Monday.
Mr Spahn said he was against making Covid vaccines compulsory, but that it was a "moral obligation" to get the jab because it impacts on other people.
"Freedom means taking responsibility, and there is a duty to society to get vaccinated," he said.
