The sporting culture of Canada is different from that of many other countries. Compared to any other nation, Canadians prefer a unique set of sports that are imported from the United States or home grown — namely football, basketball, baseball, and ice hockey. In Canada, football means Canadian football or what is sometimes called gridiron around the world. Ice hockey, referred to as simply hockey in the country, is Canada's official winter sport, its most popular spectator sport, and it’s most successful sport in international competition. Canada has many teams playing in National Hockey League. Canada hockey team has been Olympic and World champions several times. Lacrosse, a sport with Aboriginal origins, is Canada's oldest sport and official summer sport.
Conclusion
Canadian English is very similar to American and British English. It is due to the history of the country and taking into consideration the neighbours, because neighbouring countries very often influence one other’s language. The principal differences are seen in the vocabulary of Canadian English. It is because of the influence of the French and Native American languages. Also there are some differences in the Canadian pronunciation, but principally Canadian English is a mixture of British and American language.
This research was very interesting to carry out. The author of this work gained a lot of new knowledge about language in Canada. As the author is very fond of Canada, it was very interesting and useful experience. If there will be a possibility to go to Canada, there will be not difficulty in understanding the people of Canada speaking Canadian English. In general, this was very helpful and exciting research in the author point of view.
