Irving Fisher was born on February 27, 1867 in Saugerties, New York, USA. He was raised to be useful member of society. His father was teacher and Congregational minister. He died at age of 53 and young Irving had to support his mother and brother. However he was admitted to Yale University where he acquired B.A. degree in mathematics (1888) and later Ph.D. in economics (1891), he was also member of Skull & Bones. He continued as a professor in Yale University and thought mathematics and political economy.1 In 1898 Fisher was suffering from tuberculosis that left him with deep interest in health and hygiene. He campaigned and wrote on topics such as world peace, healthy eating and lifestyle; his book How to Live: Rules for Healthful Living Based on Modern Science became bestseller. Irving Fisher was founder of numerous associations and agencies such as American Economic Association; he was successful inventor.2 His visible index card system (rolodex) made a fortune, but part of his wealth and academic reputation was lost in 1929 Wall Street Crash.5 He also was one of the founders of Remington Round, Inc. Fisher wrote numerous books and articles in fields of mathematics and political economics addressing the problems of First World War, hereto he wrote very clearly and understandable. Fisher was enthusiastic supporter of Herbert Hoover.1 Irving Fisher is named as one of America’s greatest mathematical economists.2 He died in New Haven, Connecticut on April 19, 1947.2 …
