The comparison of Latvian and English legal systems was a rather natural idea to start with since my main proficiency is law and I already had some knowledge in these spheres. Some many many years ago I thought that law and acts are something that is rather far from an ordinary law-abiding citizen and that you scarcely ever can come in contact with them. In coming closer to the achievement of bachelor’s degree in law you start to see and understand that almost every action is regulated and stated by Law. Even such a simple thing as crossing the road to get to the university is an administrative act which is governed by Administrative Law.
Nowadays people are used to the freedom of speech, rights to participate in governments life (such as being elected or voting), rights to be a group of people with shared interests...but it wasn’t always like this, these simple yet so important aspects of our life were won and secured in many fights and hardships throughout the history and mainly were born only in the end of 18th century during the French revolution.
