Here you can see two simple diagrams illustrating the process of generating electricity from sea waves.
There is a mechanism that is usually built on a cliff or sea wall, and basically, it’s made from three parts – a chamber, turbine and a vertical column that goes out to the atmosphere. These diagrams are quite detailed as you can also see that the turbine is mounted on the inside of the mechanism that later converts water (that is both rising and falling) to electricity. In other words, the kinetic energy is transformed to the electrical energy.
