Foremost, corruption in F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel “The Great Gatsby” has been a subject
of analysis and discussion for a long time. Whilst reading the novel, it is difficult not to notice that
it is a central theme of it. This has been depicted through various symbols, as well as characters,
such as Jay Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan and Myrtle Willson.
Corruption refers to actions or practices that are illegal or unethical, often involving the
abuse of power or authority for personal gain. This can take many forms, including bribery,
embezzlement, fraud, and manipulation of the legal or political system. Such actions undermine
trust in institutions and can damage a society's economy, political stability, and overall quality
of life. Consequences of corruption include wasted taxpayer funds; Loss of goods and services;
Lower community confidence in public authorities; Disadvantage to honest businesses that miss
out on government contracts.…
