The Constitution provides for freedom of speech and of the press, and the Government respects these rights in practice. Since the Constitution is there to guard and guide the government and to protect the minority, there are some restrictions. For example, criticism may only be given in a constructive manner; one may not insult another person for any reason including race, colour, religion or political standing. So do we still have freedom of speech? Some may say no because one is not free to say whatever he/she pleases to but the minority must still be protected. Before making a decision on whether one believes or not that he/she lives in a democracy, it is good to remember that democracy does cost money and not everyone can be equal. It is when the government tries to make everyone equal that the government goes from a democratic government to a communist government.…
