He missed out quite a lot of things and made a few things look stupid such as a death of a main character.
All in all the movie wasn't nearly as good as its book. They were in a different league all together. The movie didnt really appeal to me, maybe because i'm expecting too much out of such an old movie but if an old book can be good then why cant an old movie? I recommend you reading the book and not bothering to watch this terrible movie, the book is great, exciting and full of twists which makes the reader want to read on.
