However, Austria-Hungary was apposed to that as they now owned Serbia from 1908. The publicity of Archduke Franz Ferdinand's visit did not help safety, the exact date was also given which made it easy for the Black Hands. The Serbian terrorists could slip into Bosnia, killed Ferdinand and slip back into Serbia very quickly.
Franz Joseph, the leader of Austria-Hungary gave Serbia an ultimatum to wipe-out the Black Hand organisation and to let Austro-Hungarian officials into Serbia or they will be forced to go to war with Serbia. The Serbian reply to the ultimatum was that they would wipe-out the Bland-Hand organisation but they would not let Austro-Hungarians into Serbia because that would compromise the freedom of Serbia that they fought for. Therefore, Austria-Hungary bombed Serbia's capital, Belgrade, Serbia turn to their alliance with Russia for help. Tsar Nicholas II ordered the Russian army to mobilise. Kaiser Wilhelm heard that the Russian army was mobilising so he sent an ultimatum to Russia ordering them to stop. Russia has to refuse the ultimatum and mobilises its army. The French government heard about this and immediately ordered their army to mobilise. The German's were forced to mobilise their army because of Austria-Hungary joining in the conflict. At 6 o'clock in the morning the German armies leave the train station one train every 3 minutes. Britain and Belgium sent a telegram to ask Germany to reconsider. All the major British politicians sat in the cabinet room. There was no answer. Britain was at war with Germany. They then sent a telegram with only two letters on it, "GN", meaning "Goodnight".
