The Rigas Doms has always been considered to be the most important sacral building in the entire Baltic region, and the interior has the capacity of up to 5000 people. In 1211, the grounding stone of the church was laid by the bishop Albert, who played an important role in the Christianisation of Latvia. Local limestone from the banks of the Daugava was used as the building material for the wings of the church. This part of the buildings can be recognized by its high, arched windows.…
