Chaotic attributes like lying, deceitfulness, and avaricious greed are not characteristics that will make a good executive.
The question whether or not business ethics make good business or not has been clearly answered. Poor or unethical leadership of a company will bring about its downfall eventually. This question would have been much more difficult to answer before the stock bubble burst. The leaders of Enron, Arthur Andersen, Worldcom, Tyco, Qwest, and Adelphi to name a few would have had their unethical behavior discovered in time, so it stands to reason that they counted on the riches they unethically, and in some cases illegally, obtained to overshadow, at least to themselves, any wrongdoing. The return on their unethical investments will be decided by Karma.
