Latvia is an accountable participant in the international system demonstrating a pragmatic and principled foreign policy. The country’s goal in 2022 along with the traditional fundamental aim of Latvia’s foreign policy – to secure its national independence and security and assist prosperity – is to observe sustainable solutions to current and future challenges in line with Latvia’s interests. The central role in Latvia’s foreign policy continues to play transatlantic cooperation, there Latvia’s priorities remain unchanged: strengthening of the US military attendance in the region, promotion of cooperation in the digital and technology field, as well as more mobile US participation in the Three Seas Initiative. Additionally, Latvia would like for Canada to carry on leading the NATO Battle Group even after the present mandate becomes invalid in 2023. …
