William Shakespeare was an English poet, playwright, and actor born in 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon. His birthday is most commonly celebrated on 23 April, which is also believed to be the date he died in 1616. William’s father was a successful local businessman, and his mother Mary was the daughter of a landowner. Scholars have surmised that Shakespeare most likely attended the King's New School, in Stratford, which taught reading, writing and the classics. William, aged only 18, married an older woman named Anne Hathaway. They had three children, Susanna, Hamnet and Juliet. After his marriage, information about the life of Shakespeare is sketchy, but it seems he spent most of his time in London – writing and acting in his plays.…
