SYNTACTIC ASPECTS OF THE TRANSLATION
Omission of the sentences
"Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
Es neesmu glīta, tas ir tiesa,
Bet vai gan tam kāds svars?
Es apēdīšu pati sevi,
Ja mici gudrāku kāds atrast var.
EVALUATION OF THE TRANSLATION
The main author’s idea was kept – the novel was written to entertain and appeal readers.
The preservation of the author’s style – the great emphasis is put on the contents of the text, by obviating a bear translation or words, not meanings.
The preservation of the contextual idea - revealing the true and genuine idea of the novel by exposing the content as it is – as emotional and lively as it is in the original language.
With the translation the novel became popular also in Latvia.
