Many people tend to mix up management and leadership.
Leadership is a social process that involves interaction with others.
Management is broader in scope; for example, management is concerned with choosing goals, solving problems and identifying developments in the environment.
Leadership involves risk-taking and motivating and inspiring people to achieve goals.
In summary, leadership determines where an organization is going and influences people in particular direction, whereas management describes how the organization can get there.
In practice, however, the most effective managers are also leaders.
